Integrated Media Center Opens Lab for Students

Geneva Seal

Geneva College is pleased to announce that the campus Integrated Media Center (IMC) now has open lab hours for students. The lab hours are from 7-9 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings. A student worker will be present during these hours to help students and answer any questions.

“The IMC has lab hours and can also be used by appointment.  We try to be flexible, so students, staff, and faculty are able to use the space as often as possible,” says Professor Richard Talbert, who teaches courses in the integrated media concentration of the communication major.

The Integrated Media Center is equipped with a computer lab that has the entire Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Dreamweaver, and more). Students are encouraged to bring their own USB drives for ease of use.

“Our program strives to balance art and technology. As a result, we have invested in new equipment to help our students succeed in creating great works,” adds Talbert. “The Integrated Media Center benefits the entire campus community.”

The IMC also has a video/photography production studio, where students can record video using the three Panasonic 4K Ultra High Definition camcorders that are available in-studio. A NewTek TriCaster digital switcher and color-temperature adjustable LED studio lighting are also available for students’ use. The studio is also complete with a green screen.

Students who wish to use video equipment outside of the IMC have the option to check out three Sony High Definition camcorders, or a Panasonic GH3 mirrorless camera.

Students can walk in during lab hours, or contact Professor Talbert to make an appointment.
