Geneva College Observes Veterans Appreciation Week

Veterans Appreciation Week

Geneva College is observing Veterans Appreciation Week from Monday, February 15 through Friday, February 19, 2016. Events include a patriotic-themed photo booth. In addition, Geneva’s website will feature blog posts and student spotlights on veterans currently attending the college.

The photo booth will be in the lobby of Alexander Dining Hall during lunch and dinner on Monday, February 15. Students can take photos with their friends and then post the pictures on social media using the hashtag #GenevaForVeterans.

Students can also share pictures of their close friends and family members who are currently in service, using the same hashtag.

“I think that Veterans Appreciation Week is something that all students can benefit from,” says Mikayla Covington, senior communication major and one of the students running the photo booth. “We really wanted to show appreciation for the students at Geneva who have served in the military, as well as increase awareness about some of the services that Geneva offers, like the Post-9/11 GI Bill. We’re excited to be partnering with Student Veterans of America in order to provide Geneva students with the information they need to have concerning student veterans.”

Student Veterans for America exists to provide military veterans with the resources, support, and advocacy needed to succeed in higher education and post-graduation. It consists of a coalition of student groups on college campuses across the globe.
