Geneva women earn program's first PAC postseason appearance; drops 63-59 final to Westminster

Geneva

New Wilmington, PA – A slow start doomed Geneva as the Golden Tornadoes opened the game down 10-0 against all-time rival Westminster Saturday.

Geneva came back, finishing the first quarter strong and dominating the second quarter as the Golden Tornadoes went on a 13-0 run of their own. After that, the game played like archvials would be expected, with the highest point lead at four. Geneva couldn't finish the fight dropping a 63-59 final to the Titans.

Westminster gained the biggest gap of the second half at 47-43 seven minutes into the third quarter. They reach the four point lead mark again at 00:59 left in the game at 56-52.

Miranda Heaney's (New Castle, PA/Union) three-pointer closed the gap for Geneva, cutting the gap to 58-57 but that was as close as the Golden Tornadoes got.

Callie Ford (New Middletown, OH/Springfield Local) led Geneva's offensive with 18 points. Jodie Carlson (Warsaw, IN/Warsaw) tallied 14 points, seven rebounds. Heidi Mann (Colorado Springs, CO/Evangelical Christian Academy) led Geneva's rebounding with eight.

"We didn't shoot the ball really well," said head coach Lori Wynn. "We defended better than we have been but we didn't shoot well."

Geneva finished the game shooting 35.7% from the field and beyond the arc, 90% fro. The charity stripe.

Now, 9-16 overall, 6-12 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference, the Golden Tornadoes finish seventh in the league entering the program's first PAC post-season. On Monday, February 22 Geneva will be at Chatham starting at 7 p.m.
