Geneva Hosts First Look: An Underclassmen Experience

Visit

Geneva College is hosting a special visit day for high school sophomores and juniors to begin the college search process and experience Geneva. The event, First Look: An Underclassmen Experience, is on Friday, March 18, 2016.

Roger Blevins, Assistant Director of Admissions, says, “This visit day gives guests an ideal time to begin their college search by catching a quick glimpse into life at Geneva College. We are excited to showcase our campus and the great work that happens here!”

First Look begins with a welcome session at 9 a.m.  Students will then attend a college class. Next, visitors will take a campus tour and then have lunch in the Alexander Hall dining commons. Afternoon activities include a student development session, a student panel and a “next steps” discussion.

“A campus visit day is one of the most valuable resources to learn more about a college and assist in making the decision of where to attend,” adds Blevins.

According to research conducted by US News & World Report, helpful questions to ask when visiting a college fall into the following categories: Academics, Academic Perks, Financial Aid, Graduation Track Record, Academic Support, and Student Life.

Academic questions include such things as the amount of time spent on homework, class size and information on teacher’s assistants. Helpful financial aid topics concern typical breakdowns of loans and grants, average financial packages, average merit award, average student debt, and work-study programs and internships. Graduation and retention rates are also important, as is information about tutoring programs, writing centers, and learning disability resources

Geneva College invites students to step forward with an academically excellent, Christ-centered and affordable education. Offering more than 40 majors, Adult Degree Programs with fully online and campus-based options, and high-demand advanced graduate degrees, Geneva's programs are recognized for their high quality. U.S. News & World Report consistently ranks Geneva as a Top 10 Best Value with one of the Top 100 engineering programs in the nation. Adhering to the inerrancy of Scripture, a Geneva education is grounded in Reformed Christian faith, as well as in a core curriculum designed to prepare students vocationally to think, write and communicate well in today’s world.
