Geneva Baseball Drops First Game of the Season to Wilkes University

Fort Pierce, FL – Geneva baseball dropped its first game of the season 4-1 on Wednesday March 9, to Wilkes University moving them to 2-1 overall.

It was a scoreless game until the top of the fourth inning when Wilkes scored. Geneva was able to score in the bottom of the fourth but could not continue their offensive streak, as Wilkes would score the game winning runs in the fifth.

Caleb Metzler (Lititz, PA/Warwick) did his best to change the outcome with three strike outs, but Drew Nichols (New Wilmington, PA/Wilmington) was charged with the loss, allowing seven hits. He lasted just 4.3 innings, walked one, struck out three, and allowed four runs.

JC Ackerman (Lewis Center, OH/Worthington Christian) led the offense with two hits and Richie Rowe (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk) got an rbi on a bases loaded walk, bringing in Joey Luciana (Oakmont, PA/St. Joseph).

Geneva baseball will be back out on the field again Friday, March 11 at 3:30 to take on Hilbert College.
