Beaver Falls, PA – Mount Aloysius opened the doubleheader with four runs and the early rally seemed to slide Geneva into a funk it was unable to shake. Mount Aloysius handed Geneva a pair of losses, 6-2 and 8-3, dropping the Golden Tornasdoes’ overall record to 10-6.

“For the first time this year we weren’t able to generate consistent offensive production,” said head coach Van Zanic. “They did a good job shutting down our running game and we weren’t able to put good at bats together.”

“We were flat from the first pitch to the last pitch and need a whole lot more urgency if we plan on doing anything positive within the conference.”

Down 5-0 in the bottom of the second of the opener, Geneva’s Clara Sevy (Sykesville, MD / Chapelgate Christian) RBI double to right field brought home Taylor Yarletts (New Castle, PA / Mohawk) for a brief spark. Ericka Hess (Erie, PA / Iroquois) then reached on an error, allowing Sevy to cross the plate.

Geneva’s three runs in the nightcap - two runs in the fourth and one in the seventh - weren’t enough against the visitor’s 12 hits and eight runs.

Emily Keslar (Mt. Pleasant, PA / Connellsville) was on the wrong side of the decisions, lowering her record to 10-6.

Thursday, March 31 the Golden Tornadoes are on the road at Allegheny for a doubleheader, starting at 3:30 p.m.
