Geneva Thwarted by Waynesburg, 5-3

Beaver Falls, PA – Geneva College baseball was unable to stop the efforts of conference visitors Waynesburg University as they dropped a 5-3 decision in their single nine-inning game. The loss moves Geneva’s President’s Athletic Conference record to 2-12 with their overall record being 7-17.

“We played well today,” said head coach Alan Sumner. “It is tough to come back from a five-run inning. I’m proud of the way we competed.”

The Golden Tornadoes outhit their opponents 12-6 while also committing only one error while Waynesburg committed two.

Geneva scored first in the top of the second off of Michael Harris’s (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk) single RBI. The top of the third was equally as Ritchie Rowe (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk) would send JC Ackerman (Lewis Center, OH/Worthington Christian) home. Unfortunately, that effort was not enough to route the visitors as they took the lead in the bottom of the third inning scoring all five of their runs.

Josh Glover (Springfield, VA/West Springfield) couldn't get it done on the mound for taking a loss. He lasted just three innings, walked three, struck out two, and allowed five runs.

Geneva College baseball will head back out to the diamond on Friday April 15 at 4:30 p.m. to host PAC opponent St. Vincent.
