pags

Beaver Falls, PA – Despite out hitting conference foe Thomas More in both games Wednesday afternoon, the Geneva baseball team was unable to win either seven-inning contest, losing 9-7 and 4-3, respectively. The pair of losses drops the Golden Tornadoes’ overall record to 7-13 overall, 2-8 in the President’s Athletic Conference (PAC).

Thomas More scored in each of the first two innings of game one to take a 2-0 lead but Geneva scored two runs of its own in the second. Thomas More would never lose the lead again, though, after taking it back in the top of the third, 4-2.

Forrest Beighley (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk) racked up two RBIs on two of Geneva’s nine hits. He singled in the second and sixth innings. JC Ackerman (Lewis Center, OH/Worthington Christian) and Joey Luciana (Oakmont, PA/St. Joseph) also had two hits.

Jeff Parker (Green Brook, NJ/Timothy Christian) took loss, allowing four earned runs and four unearned runs.

The second game of the double header had a similar storyline as Geneva outhit Thomas More 9-8. The Golden Tornadoes made a seventh inning rally with two runs but it would not be enough as the game ended 4-3 in Thomas More’s favor.

Mark Overmier (Crofton, MD/Mount St. Joseph) had a two run RBI, contributing to the nine hits in the game two. Tyler Pagaduan (Voorhess, NJ/Eastern Regional), going four for four on the day, and Aaron Witman (Greencastle, PA/Shalom Christian Academy), who went three for four on the day, also had strong offensive roles in the second game with two hits apiece.

Caleb Metzler (Lititz, PA/Warwick) took the loss for Geneva, as he lasted five innings, walked one, struck out one, and allowed two runs.

Due to a schedule change because of incoming weather, the Geneva baseball team will head to Waynesburg University on Friday, April 8 to play their two seven-inning games at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
