Waynesburg, PA – Geneva men’s tennis joined Penn State Altoona in a tri-match held at Waynesburg Saturday. Geneva went 0-2 dropping a 6-3 match to Waynesburg and a 7-2 final to Penn State Altoona. The two loses drop the Golden Tornadoes’ record to 1-6, 1-4 in the President’s Athletic Conference (PAC).

“This was one of the windiest days of tennis I’ve ever seen,” said head coach Mandee Craft. “It took a lot of mental and physical stamina with playing two full matches. It was a good test for us.”

Eric Abbott (Seven Fields, PA / Senca Valley) and Evan Shaw (Enon Valley, PA / Homeschool) battled the Yellow Jackets in first doubles but were unable to overcome the deficit in an 8-5 final.

Against PS Altoona, Caleb Hoal (Montrose, PA / Montrose) and Ethan Stahl (Beaver Falls, PA / BCCS) were able to win their fifth doubles match 8-5. David Streit (Mechanicsburg, PA / Mechanicsburg Area) was also able to win his hard fought fourth singles match with the margin of 6-3, 3-6 going to the 10-8 tiebreaker for the win.

The tennis team will host the Washington and Jefferson Presidents on Monday, April 11 at 4 p.m. at Brady’s Run outdoor court.
