Men’s Track & Field Finishes Third at Slippery Rock Open Meet

Slippery Rock, PA – On Thursday, April 21 the Geneva men’s track and field team traveled to Slippery Rock University for the Slippery Rock Open meet. Three other President’s Athletic Conference (PAC) teams present: Westminster College, Grove City College, and Thiel College. Geneva came in third overall before competing at the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Track & Field Outdoor Championships.

“We had some strong performances at SRU,” said head coach Phil Thompson. “It was good to see them perform this well with the PACs right around the corner.”

Cam Unrath (Wexford, PA / Pine Richland) competed in the 200 meter dash with his time of 22.79 seconds good enough for a seventh place finish.

Dalton Paxson (Rochester, PA) finished second in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.39 seconds as well as eighth in the 400 meter hurdles in a time of 1:01.18.

In the distance events, Clay Smith (Williamsport, MD / Williamsport) ran in the 1500 meter run. His 4:14.68 time was good enough to finish sixth.

In the field, Jacob Feeney (Hermitage, PA / Kennedy Catholic) jumped 1.75 meters (5.74 feet) in the high jump, enough to land him in seventh. Jesse Garcia (Mechanicsville, MD / Chopticon High) competed in the triple jump reaching 12.92 meters (42.38 feet) for fourth place.

Isaac Barringer (Delta, OH / Toledo Christian) continues to perform well in his field events as he placed sixth in the discus with a throw of 42.26 meters (138.64).

On Friday, April 29 the Golden Tornadoes will end the season at Bethany College (WV) competing in the PAC Track & Field Outdoor Championships.
