Beaver Falls, PA – The Geneva College Golden Tornadoes opened their 2016 season with a 3-0 victory over the visiting Juniata College Eagles. This win hands Geneva a 1-0 start in their overall, non-conference play. The afternoon matchup opened play in the 2016 Nate Ferraco Classic co-hosted by Geneva College and Grove City College to commemorate the memory of Nate Ferraco who died last year in a tragic car accident.

Junior captain Gibson McCracken (Beaver Falls, PA/Beaver County Christian School) opened scoring for Geneva in the first half converting a penalty kick. Sophomore Liam O'Halloran (Elyria, OH/Elyria Catholic) quickly followed behind McCracken with his season opening goal in the 13th minute, finishing a pass from junior midfielder Clayton Cox (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg).

Junior Abel Carlton (Beaver Falls, PA/Beaver County Christian School) ensured the win netting his first goal of the season in the 59th minutes of the game. Luke Nolan (Wexford, PA/North Allegheny) tallied his first shutout season with two saves.

Head Coach Gary Dunda commented, “I am very happy with the boys’ effort this afternoon. It is always great to win your first game of the year. We look forward to our contest with Pitt-Greensburg tomorrow as we hope to continue to improve.”
