Men’s Cross Country Races Against National Caliber; Fourth Among Conference Finishes

Latrobe, PA – The Geneva men’s cross country team raced in the Saint Vincent Invitational meet on Saturday, September 17. There were several high caliber cross country programs running in the meet today among those being Allegheny College and Carnegie Mellon University. The Geneva College program placed ninth overall, being the fourth place finisher in the President’s Athletic Conference (PAC).

Sophomore runner Josh Duffie (Canton, OH/Glenoak) finished in 28:25 to be the 27th runner to finish for the meet. Fellow teammate, junior Clay Smith (Williamsport, MD/Williamsport) finished 54th overall with a time of 29:28.

Rookie runner, Brandon Racine (Williamsport, MD/Williamsport), stepped up in a big way today as he ran the number three spot for the Golden Tornadoes finishing the race with a time of 29:32.

“He has been working really hard,” comment head coach Brian Yowler. “He’s had some impressive workouts so it was nice to see him some of that work pay off today.” 

The Golden Tornadoes will return to this course in six weeks for the 2016 PAC Championship meet looking to perform well. In the meantime, Geneva will race again at the Dickinson Long/Short Invitational on Saturday, October 1 at 10:30 a.m.
