Twin Conference Wins for Geneva Volleyball

Washington, PA – Geneva traveled to Washington & Jefferson College Saturday morning (September 24) to take on the hosts as well as Westminster College. Geneva faced Westminster in their first win of the day 3-0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-16). Geneva’s offense continued against W&J for another 3-0 win (25-19, 25-20, 25-23). Now 11-5, 6-1 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference the Golden Tornadoes finish the week earning 10 straight wins.

Erica Hughes (North Jackson, OH/Jackson Milton) and Olivia Test (Negley, OH/Heartland Christian) both came in big for the Golden Tornadoes with 11 kills apiece during against Westminster. Gabrielle Dickson (Brookfield, OH/Kennedy Catholic) had a great defensive game with 24 digs.

While facing W&J, both senior Grace Hayes (Westminster, MD/Westminster) (11) and junior Marisssa Naples (Cortland, OH/Lakeview) (10) posted double digit kills. Dickson again had a strong defensive game posting 18 digs. Senior Alexis Ritson (Irwin, PA/Hempfield) stood out for the Golden Tornadoes defensively as well; she finished the game with 20 digs.

Freshman setter Alaina Lytle (Warren, OH/Lakeview) tallied 42 assists over the two matches (19 against Westminster, 23 against W&J). She also combined for five total kills.

The volleyball team will return to their home court on Thursday, September 29 against conference rival Saint Vincent.
