Geneva Tennis 9-0 Win at Marietta Hands Golden Tornadoes 3-0 Start

Marietta, OH – Geneva women’s tennis defeated Marietta on the road today handing the Golden Tornadoes a 3-0 start to its 2016 season.

“Today was an even better test to see where we are before heading into conference play,” said head coach Mandee Craft. “First doubles, in particular, was a fantastic match. It lasted well over an hour and we got better as it went on.”

First doubles partners freshmen Rachael Letterman (Moon Township, PA/Moon) and sophomore Katherine Deitrick (Beaver, PA/Beaver) finished the win in an 8-5 decision.

Letterman went on to defeat first singles opponent 8-6.

Deitrick’s 8-3 final defeated second doubles opponent.

In sixth singles, Victoria Hinds (Montrose, PA/Montrose) won with a clean slate, 8-0.

“We’ve stepped up our play and will be ready for tomorrow,” said Craft.

Saturday, September 10 at 1 p.m. the Golden Tornadoes open conference play at Thomas More.
