(BEAVER FALLS, Pa.) – Geneva College announced changes today to financial services provided to students that include moving towards a one-stop shop approach and enabling real-time access to student financial information. In addition, notices about a revised FAFSA submission date and Spring Semester payment schedule were also communicated.

“Keeping a Geneva education affordable for students and their families is a top priority for the Student Financial Services team,” says director Allyson Bentz. “With the introduction of these updates, we are improving our service level to students and making the process easier than ever.”

Here is a list of recent changes and notices announced by Student Financial Services:

Moving Towards a One Stop Shop: Student Financial Services

Recently, several staffing changes were made in the Financial Aid Office and plans are underway to combine Student Accounts and Financial Aid into one office: Student Financial Services. Beginning in November 2016, students and families will be able to pay their bill, get answers to their questions about charges, and discuss financial aid eligibility all in one place - the lower level of Alexander Hall. Students can stop by to meet the team: Esther Cox, Cindy Anderson, Colin Craig, Beth Kurtz and Allyson Bentz, who will serve students in person, via email or by phone Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Real Time Access to Student Financial Information

Current students can now access their Student Account through MyGeneva (http://my.geneva.edu/) and their Financial Aid Information through MyGeneva Aid (www.geneva.edu/financial-aid/netpartner). If assistance in learning to use these new systems is needed, the Student Financial Services team members will walk students through the process. Students can email to schedule an appointment today (financialaid@geneva.edu).

FAFSA Submission Date Change

The date when families can begin submitting the FAFSA is earlier - October 1. The new submission date is a permanent change by the federal government, enabling students to complete and submit a FAFSA as early as October 1 every year. The fresh timeline will take effect beginning with those who apply for financial aid for the 2017-2018 school year and will require applicants and their families to use the same data they reported on their 2015 tax returns. The use of older data means families can start the process earlier and most won't have to rely on estimated tax information. Geneva's priority deadline is January 1, 2017. Current students only will receive their financial aid award later in the spring by email.

Spring Payment Plan and Student Account Reminders

Enrollment for spring payment plans opens on October 16.  Undergraduate students have the option of enrolling in a 5, 4, or 3 month payment plan for the Spring Semester balance.  All payment plan payments are due on the 15th of each month.  (The payment date is set and will be withdrawn from your checking account or charged to your credit card on the 15th and cannot be adjusted.)  To enroll in the 5 month plan, students must enroll before November 10th. Students can log into their account through MyGeneva (http://my.geneva.edu/) for more information. Payment for charges not covered by financial aid/scholarships is due by January 2, 2017.  If requesting payment from a 529 Tuition Savings Plan, the Student Financial Services offices reminds students to submit a request in time for the payment to arrive by January 2, 2017.
