Latrobe, PA- The Geneva College men’s cross country team competed in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship this Saturday, October 29, 2016, at Saint Vincent College. The team finished fifth overall out of nine schools.

Sophomore Josh Duffie (Canton, OH/Glenoak) crossed the finish line first for Geneva and completed the race in fifth place overall with a time of 28:10 (8K). Duffie was awarded 1st team All-PAC. He is the only Geneva man to be a two-time 1st team All-PAC.

Andrew Domencic (Pittsburgh, PA/Avonworth), a sophomore runner, finished second for Geneva. He overcame four competitors in the last 400 meters to finish 12th overall with a time of 28:30. Domencic earned 2nd team All-PAC.

Junior Clay Smith (Williamsport, MD/Williamsport) completed the race third for Geneva and 15th overall with a time of 28:37. Smith received an honorable mention from the PAC, making him the only Geneva cross country runner to be a three-time All-Pac.

“We knew we needed to have really big days to be among the top 3 teams, and we came close. We were only 14 points behind W&J and 2 points behind Thomas More. I’m thrilled that our guys ran so aggressively today,” said cross country coach Brian Yowler. “The goal was to finish the race with no regrets, and I’m really proud of the guys for their efforts. Having three men in the top 15 was the best we’ve ever done at a PAC meet.”

This race closes the 2016 season for the Geneva College men’s cross country team. The top seven runners will race at the NCAA DIII Championships on November 12.
