Late Comeback Efforts Fall Short in Kentucky

Crestview Hills, KY – Geneva volleyball dropped the first two sets to open play in Kentucky Thursday (Oct. 27) evening. The Golden Tornadoes rallied, winning the next two sets, tying the match 2-2. Geneva’s efforts fell short for a 3-2 decision against the Golden Tornadoes; 21-25, 16-25, 25-18, 25-18, 6-15. The loss moves Geneva’s overall record to 20-11, 14-3 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC).

Marissa Naples (Cortland, OH/Lakeview) led the attack with 17 kills. Rachel Tuck (Burke, VA/Lake Braddock Secondary School) finished the five sets with an outstanding .522 attack percentage with 12 kills in 23 swings committing no errors. Erica Hughes (North Jackson, OH/Jackson Milton) also posted double-digit kills earning 10.

Alaina Lytle (Warren, OH/Lakeview) recorded 40 assists.

Defensively, Gabrielle Dickson (Brookfield, OH/Kennedy Catholic) tallied 21 digs supported by Naples, Lytle and Alexis Ritson (Irwin, PA/Hempfield) with 11.

As a team, Geneva earned nine blocks.

The Golden Tornadoes look to Saturday, October 29 to celebrate their senior class of seven before facing Thiel at 4:30 p.m.
