Altoona, PA – A 7-2 road win over Penn State Altoona raises Geneva’s Women’s Tennis overall record to 10-5 before entering the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships.

"This was a fantastic way to finish a stellar regular season. PSA is a solid team so this was great preparation for next week’s tournament. It was also fun to let all of our varsity players see action today,” said head coach Mandee Craft.

Second double partners Grace Moyer (Virginia Beach, VA/Landstown) and Jana Newberry (Lititz, PA/Warwick) posted a 9-7 win complimented by third doubles Megan Shultz (Montrose, PA/Montrose) and Victoria Hinds (Montrose, PA/Montrose) 8-2 win.

“This is the first time in my coaching career I have had the privilege to coach an undefeated player, Grace Moyer,” said Craft, “It is also the first time since 2004 that our number one singles player (Rachel Letterman) had nine wins in a season.

“The freshman class accounted for 33 singles wins this season which is also a first in my career,” said Craft.

Second singles Katherine Deitrick (Beaver, PA/Beaver) recorded a 7-5, 6-2 win.

Stoll in third singles earned a perfect 6-0, 6-0 decision.

Due to time restrictions, Moyer only played only one set in fourth singles defeating PS Altoona opponent 8-0.

Fifth singles Laura Anderson (State College, PA/State College) tallied a 6-4, 6-4 win while sixth singles Michelle Kisiel (Natrona Heights, PA/Highlands) recorded a 6-2, 6-4 win.

The two-day PAC Championship will begin on Friday, October 21 in Erie, PA. The Golden Tornadoes enter championship play with 4-4 mark in the PAC.
