Oberlin, OH- The Geneva College women’s cross country team raced in the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble on Saturday, October 15. While running a third place finish among fellow Presidents’ Athletic Conference opponents, the team overall finished 22 of 29 teams.

“We continue to run really, really well as a team,” said head coach Brian Yowler. “Our upperclassmen, Madelyn Blosser (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) and Rebecca Miller (Spring Grove, PA/Spring Grove), led the way and our very talented group of freshmen have gelled perfectly with them to form a great pack of runners.”

Miller was the first Geneva runner across the finish line with a time of 24:22.1 followed immediately behind by Blosser who finished at 24:22.2.

Finishing two places higher than last year, the Golden Tornadoes ran a team’s season best time on the flat course.

Freshmen Jennifer Simmons (Frederick, MD/Walkersville) recorded a third place finish just one second behind Miller at 24:23.9.

“We wanted to run on a flat course to see how fast we could go and we wanted to see how we stack up against some of the best teams in the PAC and the surrounding regions,” said Yowler. “I'm very encouraged by this young team and I firmly believe that we are right where we want to be headed into the PAC meet in two weeks.”

The Golden Tornadoes will head to the PAC Championship meet on Saturday, October 29 at Saint Vincent College.
