Beaver Falls, PA – The Geneva College football featured 10 Golden Tornadoes on the 2016 Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) all-conference teams. Jimmy Quinlan was tabbed All-PAC defense first-team after showcasing 103 tackles during his senior campaign as starting linebacker for the Golden Tornadoes. Quinlan has led Geneva’s in tackles for the past three seasons tallying a career 312 tackles.

Junior offensive lineman Luke Estep earned All-PAC second team honors for his work leading the Golden Tornadoes transition into the triple option offense.

Junior offensive lineman Chris Corrado, sophomore running back Trewon Marshall and junior quarterback Bryan Stafford were each named offense all-conference honorable mention. Corrado started in all ten games on the line allowing Marshall and Stafford to go to work. Marshall racked up 936 offensive yards scoring six touchdowns. Stafford stepped up into the quarterback position after his two starting teammates were injured. He successfully posted 412 offensive yards in the process.

Junior defensive lineman Nick Fickes, senior defensive lineman Zachary Ruggles, senior linebacker Austin Mirizio, senior defensive back Tim Martin and sophomore defensive back Joe Shively were each tabbed defense all-conference honorable mention. The all-conference honors are Fickes and Ruggles second time being honored for their work on the defensive line. Mirizio recorded 40 tackles, five tackles for loss, a sack, two interceptions, three passes deflections and forced a fumble. After being named 2013 All-PAC freshman defender of the year, Martin overcame an injury that robbed him of his sophomore season and worked his way back into conference rankings for his performance shutting down opponent’s passing game along with Mirizio and Shively. Martin finished his senior season with 44 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, an interception, eight pass breakups and a blocked kick on special teams. Shively racked up 58 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, earned two picks, three pass breakups and also blocked a kick on special teams.

“I am happy for the six defensive guys that made it,” said head coach Geno DeMarco. “We were the second best defense in the conference and that is indicative of the six guys honored along with Jonny Fiscus (Freedom, PA/Freedom). Offensively, it is still a work in process. I am happy they are all returning.”
