Beaver Falls, PA – The Geneva men’s soccer program claimed its first-ever Presidents’ Athletic Conference Champion title on Saturday, November 5 in a dramatic 2-1 overtime win over the Thomas More College Saints. The Golden Tornadoes win streak hits 14 as the Golden Tornadoes earn an automatic bid to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Regional postseason. The NCAA will release more information on Monday, November 7.

Senior midfield Jonathan Shoaf (Virginia Beach, VA/Norfolk Christian) found the back of the Saints goal eight minutes into the game assisted by junior forward Josh Brenize (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg). Geneva was able to hold the 1-0 lead into halftime but Thomas More didn’t allow the Golden Tornadoes to enjoy it much longer.

Thomas More converted a penalty kick at 46:22 equalizing the game 1-1. After 44 minutes of silence, the teams were forced into their second overtime meeting of the season.

At 90:59, junior defender Gibson McCracken (Beaver Falls, PA/Beaver County Christian School) converted an awarded penalty kick for the golden goal clinching the PAC 2016 Championship title.

“This is an incredibly special night for this team and for all of the guys that have played for me here,” said seventh year head coach Gary Dunda. “My emotions are just through the roof. Everything we have overcome this last year for the guys to stay together. The best thing I saw tonight was the joy on all of my guy’s faces, their families, other Geneva coaches, and the President. It is just a fantastic night for Geneva Soccer and we are so excited to move onto the NCAA tournament.”
