Women’s Basketball Falls 70-54 to Penn State Beaver

Beaver Falls, PA – After a rough first quarter of play for the Golden Tornadoes, the score deficit proved too great to overcome as Geneva women’s basketball was handed a 70-54 by Penn State Beaver, the team’s second home loss of the season. The loss moves Geneva to an overall of 1-3 for the season.

Penn State Beaver outscored Geneva 29-12 in the first quarter of play. In the first half, Geneva shot 24% from the field while the Lions were able to shoot at 42.4%. Penn State Beaver also created 19 turnovers while out-rebounding the Golden Tornadoes 47-34 for the game.  

Senior guard Miranda Heaney (New Castle PA/Union), sophomore guard Jodie Carlson (Warsaw, IN/Warsaw), and sophomore guard Callie Ford (New Middletown, OH/Springfield Local) all contributed to the team’s score with 12 points for the night. Ford led the rebounding efforts with seven followed by Heaney with six.

After celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday, Geneva heads to the University of Pitt-Greensburg on Saturday, November 26 at 2 p.m.
