Hiram, Ohio – Geneva crossed the state boarder on Saturday, December 17 to end a 29 year drought between the Golden Tornadoes and the Hiram College Terriers. The North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) hosts, Hiram, welcomed Geneva after already defeating three Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) members; Thiel, Westminster and Grove City. The Terriers stomped Geneva in an 80-51 final dropping the Golden Tornadoes overall record to 3-6, remaining 1-2 in the PAC.

With four Golden Tornadoes entering the game averaging double digit points, Geneva converted a sharp passing game into points on the scoreboard; leading the Terriers 19-14 after the first quarter. Sophomore Noelle Henry (Aliquippa, PA/Hopewell) showcased five points in the first supported by junior Amanda Knecht (Oil City, PA/Agora Cyber Charter) with four.

Tied 25-25 with 4:45 left in the second quarter, Geneva committed costly turnovers in which Hiram’s offense capitalized on leaving the Golden Tornadoes down at the half; 37-27.

Hiram’s offense continued to press into the third quarter outscoring the Golden Tornadoes 24-8.

The Terriers forced 25 Geneva turnovers. Geneva’s offense went cold as Hiram stopped three of four point leaders from reaching their double digit average.

Geneva’s dynamic scoring was held to only two double digit point scorers. Callie Ford (New Middletown, OH/Springfield) tallied 14 points leading the Golden Tornadoes offense. She also grabbed four rebounds.  Jodie Carlson (Warsaw, IN/Warsaw) managed 10 points, four rebounds.

Geneva will take a break from the hardwood to celebrate Christmas. The Golden Tornadoes return to action on Saturday, December 31 at 2 p.m. hosting Franciscan.
