Women’s Basketball Returns to Win Column in 89-56 Showdown against Franciscan

Beaver Falls, PA – The Geneva College women’s basketball team hosted non-conference opponent Franciscan University on Saturday, December 31. The Golden Tornadoes overwhelmed the visiting Barons 89-56 to move to a 4-6 overall record.

Geneva’s 8-point run to open the competition allowed the Golden Tornadoes to hold the lead for the whole game. Geneva shot a 48.5% from the field over the course of game and would be 61% in free throw attempts.

Sophomore Callie Ford scored a team-high 26 points as well as grabbing six steals. Junior Rachel Moore led the team with eight rebounds followed closely behind by senior Rachel Larson who had seven.

Senior Marrissa Heaney was 4-7 from beyond the arch to add to her 14 total points and junior Amanda Knecht also had 14 points coming from off the bench.

The Golden Tornadoes will go on the road Tuesday, January 3 as they face Saint Vincent at 4 p.m. returning to conference competition.
