BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – Students from The Genevans choir will present their annual fundraising concerts entitled “Songs from the Movies” on Friday and Saturday, February 3 and 4, 2017. The concerts begin at 7:00 p.m. in Geneva College’s John White Chapel, located on the second floor of Old Main. Tickets are $3 for students and $6 for adults and may be purchased at the door or in advance by calling Geneva College’s Music Department at (724) 847-6660.

The Genevans’ “Songs from the Movies” performances highlight memorable melodies from a variety of films. This year, the list includes everything from Mama Mia’s “Dancing Queen” to “Safe and Sound” from The Hunger Games. “Songs from the Movies” attracts an audience of all ages every year as students perform numbers from their favorite movies in creative and original ways. Proceeds from the concerts will benefit The Genevans’ spring tour to Florida in March 2017 and their three-week international tour in Europe in May 2018.

Senior Pre-Seminary and Music double major Peter LeBlanc, the director of the concerts, notes, “Songs from the Movies is probably the most eclectic musical event on campus. It is exciting to hear the diverse collection of songs that make it into our program, and it is incredible to see them all fit together. Above all, the best part is seeing familiar songs performed by Geneva’s own students and getting to join them in this celebration of music.”

The Genevans choir exists to glorify God and minister to people through the gift of music. Founded in 1938, the choir continues a rich heritage of choral singing dating from the early years of the college over a century and a half ago. The mission of The Genevans is to engage audiences while glorifying God and ministering with important spiritual truth. Over the course of their long history, The Genevans have acquired a reputation for choral excellence, musical variety and spiritual impact.
