Beaver Falls, Pa. – The Geneva College Golden Tornadoes finished their regular season at home hosting the Waynesburg University Yellow Jackets. Geneva sealed the series sweep with a 76-68 decision over the Yellow Jackets. The win raises Geneva’s overall record to 10-15, 7-11 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC). The victory also lifts 21-year head coach Jeff Santarsiero to tie the men’s basketball program winningest coach record with 290 wins. Geneva will continue play into the PAC postseason on Tuesday, February 21 at 7 p.m. in Crestview Hills, Kentucky to face the Thomas More Saints.

Noah Damazo (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk) finished his freshman campaign with an electric career high 28 points. He hit five three-pointers in his 31 minutes played.

Ethan Moose (New Castle, PA/Neshannock) posted 17 points and team-high seven rebounds while Chaese Vaudrin (Uniontown, OH/Lake) finished with 12 points. Moose and Vaudrin each grabbed five rebounds in the mix as well.

Damazo sunk a deep three and finished his allotted foul shot lifting Geneva 6-3 over Yellow Jackets at 15:40. Geneva added to its quick lead as Moose converted a free ball into a good layup 11-6 at 14:05. Zach Burns (Bethlehem, NH/Profile) drilled a three ball for the 14-6 advantage at 14:00. Waynesburg tied up the game 17-17 on a fast break at 8:16. The tight game continued as the lead changed basket to basket. The Yellow Jackets took the lead creating a four-point cushion with less than six minutes left in the half. Tied 28-28 at 2:18, Waynesburg regained the lead for the halftime advantage; 33-30.

Vaudrin’s pair at the line combined with a three ball tied the game 35-35 at 18:18. Three minutes later, Tyler Crenshaw (Moon Twp, PA/Moon/Mt. Aloysius), from Moose, lifted Geneva 39-38 for the slight lead. The ball game was quickly tied up with 40 points apiece with a long 15 minutes left in regulation. Damazo, again, attacked from beyond the circle for a Geneva eight-point lead at 52-44 with 11:21 left on the clock. Damazo continued to dominate the long game sinking a three ball at 8:30 lifting Geneva 57-48. Geneva held onto the lead from there for the series sweep.

“This was a great win for our seniors,” said head coach Jeff Santarsiero. “I am very, very proud of them. We will miss them from the program.

I thought Noah Damazo had a great game. We got stops where we needed to get stops and we were better executing tonight than we have been in a while. So we are looking forward to what is coming on Tuesday.”
