Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Chatham Cougars rolled over the Geneva College Women’s Basketball team handing the Golden Tornadoes a 82-52 loss. The road loss hands Geneva a 4-19 overall record, 1-15 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC). Chatham improves its record to 11-11 overall, 6-10 in the PAC.

Trailing by six after the first 10 minutes of play (14-8), Chatham’s Megan Sieg showcased an uninterrupted solo 12-point run in the second quarter. The Cougar’s offensive explosion left Geneva down 25-9 with less than six minutes left in the first half. Geneva finally ended the host’s hot run off the hands of sophomore guard Callie Ford (New Middletown, OH/Springfield Local) with a three ball from Lydia Songer (Wexford PA/Pine Richland).

The Golden Tornadoes struggled to find a presence inside the paint. The Cougars forced Geneva to find points with mid and long range shots. Off the glass, Geneva was outrebounded 30-7 after the first two quarters of play. Held to shooting a mere 19%, Geneva had work to do in the second half down 38-16 at the half.

The Cougars continued to control the game, burying Geneva 58-36 at the end of the third quarter. Despite the Cougars dominate play, Miranda Heaney (New Castle, PA/Union) came out of her shell to sink two three-pointers allowing her to reach 11 points entering the fourth quarter.

Heaney finished the game with team-high 17 points shooting 5-6 beyond the arch. Twin sister Miranda Heaney (New Castle, PA/Union) tallied 11 points while Ford posted 10 points and team-high seven rebounds.

Geneva finishes the regular season at home next week starting on Wednesday, February 15 hosting Westminster at 5:30 p.m. during Geneva’s Black & Gold Pack the Gym Night.
