Geneva Softball Ends Spring Season 7-5

Fort Myers, Fl. – Geneva College Softball went 1-1 on Monday, March 13 moving the Golden Tornadoes overall record to 7-5. Geneva split the Monday defeating Edgewood 9-4, dropping a 5-1 decision to Marian.

Freshman April Lude’s (Canfield, OH/Western Reserve) single RBI lifted Geneva 6-5 over Edgewood in the 5th inning. Geneva went on to tally three runs in the inning an added two more in the 6th. The Golden Tornadoes bats kept active recording 11 hits. Freshman Bobbie Ann Theiss (Lisbon, OH/Beaver Local) earned the win. She is now 2-2 from the circle. She pitched a complete game against Edgewood. She allowed 10 hits, four runs (two unearned), walked one and struck out three.

In game two, Marian challenged Geneva’s offense and kept the defense alert. Marian posted two runs in the 2nd and three in the 3rd. Geneva’s lone run at the top of the third inning wouldn’t be enough, falling 5-1. Freshman Casey Farkasovsky (Beaver, PA/Beaver) was forced to take the loss moving her record to 5-3. She pitched six innings, allowed 11 hits, five runs, walked one, struck out three.

Geneva was scheduled to face Mount Aloysius on Saturday, March 18 but due to weather conditions the double header was canceled. The Golden Tornadoes will continue competition on Tuesday, March 21 in Geneva’s home opener against Pitt Greensburg (3:30/5:30 p.m.).
