W&J Takes Baseball Series; 13-1, 12-0

Washington, Pa. - Washington & Jefferson took the conference series over Geneva with ease; sealing the sweep 13-1, 12-0 in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 22. The pair of losses move Geneva’s overall record to 8-24, 2-18 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC). 

Geneva tallied a run in the first to start the day off leading 1-0. The scoreboard went unmarked until the W&J Presidents rallied for three runs in the bottom of the fifth. The Presidents sealed the deal with ten more runs in the sixth. Mark Overmier’s 2-3 game at the plate allowed him to record Geneva’s lone run . Branden Shlick was forced to take the loss after five innings on the mound. 

In game two, the Golden Tornadoes managed six hits but wouldn’t be able to convert them into runs. 

Tyler Pagaduan lead Geneva’s game two efforts going 2-3 at bat. Caleb Metzler took the loss on the mound after four innings of work. 

Geneva returns to action at Westminster on Wednesday, April 26 starting at 4 p.m. to close out the series in a single nine-inning game.
