Beaver Falls, Pa. – Geneva, now 1-10 overall, 0-4 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference, dropped an 8-1 decision to Grove City on Monday, April 10. Tim Martin fought for a three-set fourth singles win to avoid the shutout.
“Tim did an awesome job tonight fighting out a win after dropping that first set,” commented head coach Mandee Craft. “Eric also put up a great fight at first singles and first doubles.”
Martin dropped a 1-6 decision to open fourth singles play but came back for a 6-4 win in set two of his match. The long battled continued with Martin clinching a 10-7 third set victory of the Wolverine.
Eric Abbott held his own in first singles but was forced to take a 6-3, 6-3 match loss. Abbott and Jesse Hooke partnered in first doubles play. Despite being able to tally five games, they were forced to drop the set and match; 8-5.
Geneva returns to the court tomorrow (Tuesday, April 11) at Thiel starting at 4 p.m.
