Geneva Edged Out by Tough Competition

Beaver Falls, PA – The Geneva College Men’s Tennis team fell in close competition to Frostburg State University 4-5 on Friday, April 21. The loss brings the team’s record to 3-12, 2-5 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference.

In first doubles, sophomore Eric Abbott (Seven Fields, PA / Senca Valley) and freshman Alex Greissinger (Erie, Pa / Fairfiew High School) earned a 9-7 win. Third doubles partners Adam Borst (Altoona, PA / Altoona) and Caleb Hoal (Montrose, PA / Montrose) earned an 8-5 win.

Greissinger also earned a third singles win: 6-2, 6-0. Junior Ethan Stahl (Beaver Falls, PA / BCCS) claimed the final win for the Golden Tornadoes in fifth singles: 6-3, 6-1.

“This was a tough one that definitely could have gone either way,” said head coach Mandee Craft. “A few points here or there – sometimes those are the toughest losses. But we’ll be ready for next week.”

The Golden Tornadoes return to the court Monday, April 24 at Thiel College. The match is set to begin at 4 p.m.
