Geneva Runs Out of Gas; Split with Saint Vincent

Beaver Falls, Pa. – Geneva’s steam ran out against Saint Vincent on Wednesday, April 19. Geneva settled for a split; 3-1, 4-8. The 1-1 series against the Bearcats moved Geneva’s overall record to 17-13, 6-6 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC).

Geneva answered Saint Vincent’s run in the fourth with a three-run rally. Haley Sainato went 2-3 at bat, two RBIs. Lucia Fee's 2-3 at bat allowed her to score in the win. Laura Innocenzi finished the seven innings with a hit, run and RBI.

Casey Farkasovsky posted a huge strikeout against Saint Vincent’s home run slugger Lineberger with the bases loaded to close the fifth inning. She earned the win allowing six hits, striking out three, moving her record to12-7.

Geneva entered the fifth inning of game two up 3-1. The Bearcats four hits translated to two runs for the equalizer, 3-3. Lucia Fee answered for the Golden Tornadoes opening the bottom of the fifth with a homer to left field; retaking the lead, 4-3.

Geneva's tank went empty in the seventh and eighth. Saint Vincent’s run in the top of the seventh took the game into extra innings. The Bearcats four runs in the eighth went unanswered for the 8-4 final.

Sainato recorded a run in game two. She finished the game 3-6 at bat. Lucia Fee's hot bat went 2-4 recording two RBIs and two runs for a 4-7 day performance. Bobbie Anne Theiss was forced to take the loss after six innings of work. She allowed 12 hits, four earned runs.

The Golden Tornadoes will have less than 24 hours to return to Conrady Field. On Thursday, April 20 at 3:30 p.m. Geneva is set to host the Chatham University Cougars in a PAC doubleheader during the program’s senior night.
