(BEAVER FALLS, Pa.) – Geneva College introduces a new undergraduate degree program in Computer Information Systems, which is immediately accepting new and transfer students for the fall 2017 semester.

The Computer Information Systems bachelor’s degree program focuses on the business and technology skills needed in professional positions within many industries in the 21st century.

“Businesses today face many challenges for which technical solutions are required, and they need team members who understand their needs and how to use technology to solve complex problems,” says Dr. Gordon P. Richards, Associate Professor of Business and Computer Science at Geneva. “Our program is a solid blend of business and technical, marrying the professional programs of business and computer science. Students in our Computer Information Systems program will navigate a pathway to where technical skill and business know-how intersect.”

Dr. Richards directs the Computer Science program under which the new degree will be housed and says graduates will possess in-demand and widely applicable skills, along with the agility of practical reasoning and constructive thought provided by Geneva’s core education.

Approval of the new Geneva degree program recognizes the growing need for employees with both business acumen and technical know-how. Data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics indicates that more than 545,000 information technology jobs were unfilled, according to a March 2015 report issued by the White House.

Students interested in the new Computer Information Systems program may contact Dr. Richards at grichards@geneva.edu or admissions@geneva.edu.
