Geneva Softball’s Haley Sainato Named NFCA DIII Central All-Region

Haley Sainato NFCA All-Region

Beaver Falls, Pa.  – Sophomore center fielder and Geneva leadoff hitter, Haley Sainato was named 2017 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III All-Region on Tuesday, May 17. Under the Central Region, Sainato earned third-team honors for her at-large work on both offense and defense.

Tallying a .438 batting average, Sainato posted six doubles, 11 RBIs and 26 stolen bases on her way to scoring 39 runs for the Golden Tornadoes. In the field, she speed and athleticism allowed her to record a .957 field percentage with 64 putouts and three assists.

Knowing only 45 Division III student-athletes are chosen for the Regional award, Head Coach Van Zanic said, “I am extremely happy for Haley in that she was recognized on a regional level for a great year. She has been our offensive spark plug for the past two years and this year she evolved into an outstanding centerfielder. She has worked extremely hard and deserves every accolade that comes her way. I'm just thankful that we have her for two more years.”
