(BEAVER FALLS, Pa.)—Geneva College will host the famous Geneva Reading Series (GRS) in John White Chapel, Old Main on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

This is the first time the event will be hosted in John White Chapel. The larger venue is needed due to the growing popularity of GRS, and it also presents new theatrical opportunities. The crowds at the previous location, the West Reading Room of McCartney Library, were becoming too large. “We are hoping to develop in John White Chapel the same feeling of community that we experienced in the West Reading Room,” says Dr. Daniel Williams, Professor of English, “This new space will also allow us to achieve bigger and bolder theatrical performances, well beyond what we’ve seen at any other GRS event.”

GRS has a reputation for bringing together community members, as well as Geneva College students, for an evening of reflection, laughter, and emotion through the stories and art work of the guests. Refreshments from Beaver Falls Coffee & Tea (hot chocolate, wassail, and desserts) will be provided for all in attendance.

The guests include Geneva professors, students, alumni and community members.

Dr. Sha Wang is an associate professor of piano and music theory at Geneva College. This is her first appearance as a guest at GRS.

Olivia Moore is a senior writing major. She will be reading some of her poetry and an excerpt from a short story.

Gregory Beechaum is a senior communication major with a concentration in public relations. He will also be sharing original poems and a short story.

Olivia Mitchell Porter is a 2015 Geneva College alumna. This is her first appearance as a guest at GRS.

Barepaw is a “country roots blues” band made up of Geneva College students and alumni. Members include Zack Bowman, Jeremy Schep, Matt Neal, Andrew Flinner, David Parker and Jake Rozmus.
