(BEAVER FALLS, Pa.)— Geneva College has launched a new initiative to help prospective students receive micro-scholarships for their achievements in while still in high school.  Students can earn up to $12,000 per year (or up to $48,000 over four years) in micro-scholarships from Geneva.

The new program gives high school students visibility into the qualities Geneva values in its students, including grades, community service, test scores, leadership roles, and more. To participate in Geneva’s micro-scholarship program, students must maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average, be US citizens or permanent residents and create an online profile at raise.me/join/geneva. They can record their activities and track the increase in their micro-scholarships by logging into their profile.

Students can earn Geneva micro-scholarships for dozens of accomplishments and activities, including:

  • $20 for every hour of church or community service (up to $2,000)
  • $300 for each AP, IB, honors or advanced course taken (up to $4,500)
  • $400 for each “A” grade in any core or fine arts course (up to $6,000 total or $1,500 per year)
  • $800 for each leadership position in an extracurricular activity (up to $4,800 maximum)
  • $1,000 for a Geneva College campus visit
  • $2,500 for a SAT score of 1000 (Math and Reading), and $300 for each additional 10 points

*Students should register at raise.me/join/geneva for full details/limitations and more micro-scholarships.

Students can begin earning micro-scholarships from Geneva as early as ninth grade and continue earning through October 1 of their senior year in high school. Micro-scholarships represent the minimum amount of guaranteed scholarships students will receive from Geneva if they are accepted and enroll. Students may receive an even larger financial aid package based on their complete application for admission, but with micro-scholarships, they’ll know ahead of time at least how much financial aid they can depend on.
