Geneva Skye Lounge Becomes Art Gallery for Visual Communication Show

(BEAVER FALLS, Pa.)— The Communication Department invites the Geneva Community to its Visual Communication Art Show. The makeshift gallery is Skye Lounge of the Student Center from April 4 to April 19, 2018. It features the artistic talent of Geneva’s students in various mediums. The pieces on display are canvas paintings, stamped images, mixed media, portraits, sculptures, 3-D art and other forms.

Students who are Visual Communication majors created the display pieces demonstrating their acquired and developed skills in the visual arts. The stamped images are made by using a special tool to carve away the rubbery linoleum (also called lino) into designs. The artist carved away the part of the stamp that became white space. An artist must undertake this task with great care. After the image was carved onto the rubber, the artist took a roller dipped in ink and rolled it onto the rubber stamp, coating it in ink. The image is then transferred onto paper by pressing the rubber tile onto paper and pulling it away to reveal the stamp.

The art show is available for viewing during Skye Lounge operating hours.
