(BEAVER FALLS, Pa.) – In recognition of Constitution Day, Geneva College will host Dr. Adam Seagrave on Friday, September 21, 2018 as a part of the Geneva Visiting Artist and Lecture Series (GVALS). He will speak in Skye Lounge, Student Center at 10:10 a.m. on “Christianity and American Political Thought.” The event is free and open to the public.

Seagrave is Associate Director and Associate Professor, School of Civic and Economic Thought and Leadership and the Associate Director of the Center for Political Thought and Leadership at Arizona State University.

He recently served as the Kinder Institute Associate Professor of Constitutional Democracy at the University of Missouri where he specialized in American Political thought. His research focuses on the central ideas of the American political tradition.

Seagrave earned his Ph.D. from Notre Dame, and he is the author of several books, including The Foundations of Natural Morality: On the Compatibility of Natural Rights and the Natural Law (University of Chicago Press, 2014), Liberty and Equality: The American Conversation (University Press of Kansas, 2015), and most recently a modern adaptation of The Federalist Papers, titled The Accessible Federalist (Hackett Publishing Co., March 2017).

Currently, he is working on a book that casts nature as the leading figure in the story of American history, and he also serves as an editor with magazines like American Political Thought and Starting Points.
