BEAVER FALLS, PA – The Eight Bells, Geneva College’s men’s acapella group, will be presenting the annual Eight Bells Concert, supporting the group’s rich musical history of over fifty years. Under the direction of Benjamin Kennedy (’18), the Eight Bells will be performing at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, at the Geneva College Music Center.

Additionally, Eight Bells will be featuring the Grace Notes, under the direction of Kathryn Copeland Donaldson, a small women’s ensemble from within The Genevans Choir. The Grace Notes sing a wide range of musical styles, including show tunes and “classic” popular music.

“Geneva College has a strong musical heritage and culture.” says Director Benjamin Kennedy. “The Eight Bells and Grace Notes continue to build and support this heritage with exciting and heartwarming music for all to enjoy; this year is no different! Our students have been hard at work preparing for this night, and we are excited to invite everyone to hear live, acapella music from Geneva’s campus. Come receive the gift of music, given to us by God, that he may be glorified through the talents and discipline of these students.”

The Grace Notes are excited for the opportunity to perform with the Eight Bells, and look forward to sharing their music with you. The Eight Bells will be presenting much of their current repertoire, including “Don’t Rain on My Parade”, “Go the Distance”, and “Battle Hymn of the Republic”, along with their traditional closers of “Johnny Appleseed” and “Irish Blessing”.

The concert is free and open to all who love music. Anyone who wishes to offer their support may contact Eight Bells Director, Benjamin Kennedy, or Grace Notes Director, Kathryn Copeland Donaldson. Seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, with plenty of room for standing in the back, as well.

The Eight Bells were founded in 1967 by Geneva College students with a love for singing. Their name comes from one of the first songs they ever sang; a sea-shanty about the eight bells rung to end the night’s watch. Over the years, the ensemble has had more than a hundred members, supporting the rich musical heritage of Geneva College. Today, the Eight Bells are a subset of The Genevans Choir, the student choir of Geneva College, allowing them to travel across the country and around the world, bringing laughter and joy through their singing.
