Geneva College Athletes of the week for the week of January 21- January 28, 2013:
Women:

Leah Prisuta – Basketball

Junior – Forward Beaver Falls, PA

HS: Riverside  

Leah Prisuta has been selected as the female student-athlete of the week. Prisuta helped lead Geneva to its first conference victory of the season with a 16 point effort in a win over Bethany last Wednesday. On Saturday, Prisuta posted her first double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds in Geneva’s heartbreaking 57-56 overtime loss to Chatham.

Men:

Matt Lorello – Basketball

Senior – Forward

HS: Mohawk Bessemer, PA

Matt Lorello has been selected as the male student-athlete of the week. Lorello posted 19 points in a loss at Washington & Jefferson and then scored 25 points in Geneva’s overtime victory against Thiel on Saturday. For the week, Lorello was 16-21 (76.2%) from the field. Against W & J, Lorello pulled down a team best eight rebounds and against Thiel he had three blocks in the victory.

Point of Excellence

Geneva graduates pass the test for teacher certification in elementary education (Praxis II) at over a 99% rate in the first attempt–one of the highest pass rates in Pennsylvania.
