Alayna Merkle – Track
Alayna Merkle has been selected as the female student-athlete of the week. Merkle set a new school record in the one-mile race at the NCCAA national track and field meet. Merkle posted a record time of 5:23.77 in the one-mile which was good enough for a ninth place finish. Ironically, Merkle broke the school record on the same track that it was originally set two years ago. Later in the day, Merkle turned her attention to the 3000 meter race and simply ran a personal best time of 10:57.12 which was good enough for 13th place overall.
