Alayna Merkle – Track

Junior- Distance

Chambersburg, PA

Alayna Merkle has been selected as the female student-athlete of the week. Merkle had given implications in the indoor season of a breakout outdoor season as a third year Golden Tornado. Merkle proved the suspicions true with an outstanding performance in Muskingum in the season opener. Merkle earned a pair of first place victories in the 800 meter and 1500 meter event along with a national qualifying time in the 1500 meter with a time of 4:59.58.



Charles Parker – Track

Junior – Distance

Baldwinsville, NY

Charles Parker has been selected as the male student-athlete of the week. “Easily the race of the day was Charles” says head coach Brian Yowler. “It was one of those performances that remind me of why I do this.” Parker shattered his personal record in the 5000 meter race by nearly 30 seconds with a mark of 16:52.63. The time gave Parker the first place slot in his first meet of the season.
