Kimberly Orihel has been selected as the women’s student-athlete of the week. The Women’s Soccer team is two games into their season in which freshman forward Orihel has found the back of the net in each. Orihel scored the lone goal in season opener loss to the University of Pittsburg Bradford Campus and was the first to score in Saturday’s 2-0 win against Pitt Greensburg Campus.

Zack Hayward has been selected as the men’s student-athlete of the week. Hayward connected with Dylan Jones two minutes into second quarter for a 15 yard touchdown pass. Later in the quarter, Josh Guiser received Hayward’s 58 yard pass for a four play drive moving up the field 72 yards and resulting in Geneva’s fourth touchdown of the night. This fourth touchdown left Frostburg at a 28-3 disadvantage and only served as fuel for the Golden Tornadoes. In the night Geneva found 25 first downs, 13 from the passing game.
Geneva College was selected to join the Undergraduate Microbial Genome Annotation Program, an initiative of the Department of Energy’s Joint Genome Institute (JGI).
