The Director of the ACCESS Office serves as the liaison for students with disabilities.  A student with a diagnosed disability who has met the college's academic standards, and has confirmed their intention to enroll, may request accommodations.  Some possible accommodations are:   

• audio taping of lectures
• note taking support (special paper is available for use by a note-taker)
• assistance obtaining taped textbooks from Recordings for the Blind and Dyslexic at www.rfbd.org
• use of word processing on computers with spell-check capability
• per tutorial help (one hour per week per course)
• increased time for test-taking
• quiet environment for test-taking

Obtaining Access to Accommodations

Students who desire accommodation for a diagnosed disability should submit a recent (within the last three years), thorough evaluation written on professional letterhead to the Director of ACCESS.  Required documentation for specific disabilities can be viewed, downloaded or printed, by clicking on the appropriate disability to the right.

The documentation will be maintained in the student's confidential file in the ACCESS Office and will be reviewed as the basis for determining reasonable accommodations.  The type of accommodation provided will depend on the needs of the student, the circumstances of the student's classes, and the current resources of the college. Due to limited resources, some disabilities may be impossible to serve.
