Alumni trip to see Lord of the Rings
The trip is scheduled for Friday, April 7, and Saturday, April 8, and includes accommodations at the four-star Delta Chelsea Hotel in downtown Toronto. The hotel is just a few minutes’ walk from the Princess of Wales Theatre, where alumni will watch the production on Friday evening. Tourgoers will also visit the Canadian side of Niagara Falls before returning to the United States. "When the Lord of the Rings trilogy came out on film, there was a huge response among the Christian community," said Ginny Caldwell, alumni relations director. "So when we heard that the musical adaptation was coming out, it seemed like the ideal fit for our next bus trip." Lord of the Rings premiered February 2 in Toronto, Canada, and is expected to draw huge crowds to the Princess of Wales Theatre. Marcus spent $27 million in preproduction for the musical, which was funded by Kevin Wallace. "Older and younger alumni have the connection of being former Geneva students, but often don't have the opportunity to meet or talk," said Dan Meyer, assistant alumni relations director. "We are hoping that the trip will be conducive to the bringing together of the two age groups." For more information about the trip or to register, contact Dan Meyer, assistant director of alumni relations, at 724-847-6614 or events@geneva.edu. |
