Top Stories Geneva Magazine on the way The winter 2005 issue of Geneva Magazine will reach the mailboxes of 21,000 college alumni and friends this month. The issue features an essay by Dr. Daryl Sas, professor of biology and biology department chair, on the ethics of human embryonic stem cell research. It also takes an in-depth look at the growing problem of student-loan debt and profiles an alumnus who is helping to build a ground-breaking new telescope. The magazine will establish an Internet presence with Geneva Magazine Online, a full-featured electronic version, which will launch soon. Alumni remember favorite profs In a recent solicitation for the Geneva Fund, the institutional advancement office encouraged alumni to send gifts in honor or memory of an influential Geneva mentor, professor or staff member. The initiative provided alumni with an opportunity to thank individuals who influenced their lives. Many alumni have testified over the years to the life-changing impact Geneva faculty members have had on them. Professors are often hailed for equipping students for successful careers, but Geneva alumni credit their professors with an influence that extends beyond imparting job skills. The initial responses to the solicitation are posted on the Geneva Web site.  Students study abroad Seven students are increasing their cultural awareness and encountering new academic challenges by spending the semester studying off campus. Adam Amrhein, Justin McGeary and Anna Speckhard are studying at Oxford University in Britain. Chris Carson is enrolled in the American Studies Program. Michelle Hippert is studying at Lithuania Christian College. Laurie Lane is participating in the Latin American Studies Program, and Vicki Miller is taking classes at Cornerstone Christian College in South Africa. The students are able to study abroad or in other areas of the United States through Geneva 's Crossroads program. ...PRAY FOR EACH OTHER..." James 5:16 The campus has been fervently praying for an engineering student, Jennifer Wynick, who is in treatment for cancer. Recent word reports that the size of the tumor mass is shrinking. Please join us in asking the Lord to remove the cancer from her body and allow her to continue her plans for the future. Also pray for the safety of our athletic teams. Injuries are a constant concern. We praise the Lord for His gracious care shown on the Geneva campus. The institutional advancement office prays every week for alumni and friends of the college.
