Junior engineering major David Bacon and senior philosophy major Jennifer Kiefer perform a piece from “Annie Get Your Gun” during the Broadway Revue, a show that doubles as a fund-raising event for Geneva Woman, an alumni group that supports many wonderful things for Geneva students.

Geneva
’s third annual Family Weekend drew 250 parents, grandparents and siblings to campus Feb. 2-3, despite single-digit temperatures.

Louise Copeland, director of church and parent relations, called the weekend a success.

“Our goal was to provide activities for students and their families to attend together, but not to program every minute of the weekend,” she said. “The families had time to just hang out together, go shopping or out to eat. Parents indicated they appreciated the activities and were happy for the opportunity to meet their child’s friends and professors and to just spend time together.”

Friday evening kicked off with a buffet, followed by a special treat for attendees. A combination of students and faculty put on Broadway Revue, a performance highlighting the musical and dramatic talents of various members of the Geneva family. The program included favorites from musicals such as “Les Miserables,” “Oklahoma!” and “Annie Get Your Gun.” Afterward, attendees enjoyed an ice-cream social in the Brigadoon in Geneva’s Student Center.

Saturday’s attractions included a one-of-a-kind, sample humanities lecture by Professor Shirley Kilpatrick, a peek at calling and vocation, brunch in Alexander Dining Hall and the opportunity to watch the Golden Tornadoes take on Franciscan University and Seton Hill University in Metheny Fieldhouse in the evening.
