Celebrating GT softballspacer.gif

Former Geneva softball players will join current Tornadoes for a 25-year reunion during the last home game of the 2007 season.

Geneva alums who have been involved with the softball program over the years are invited to reconnect with old teammates, as well as cheer Coach Van Zanic and his 2007 crew on to victory during their 1 p.m. doubleheader against Seton Hill Saturday, April 28.

Wendy (Schwedler ’91) Allman, a member of the Geneva Alumni Council who is heading up plans for the event, said softball has always been a great sport at Geneva. She’s looking forward to the chance to catch up and reminisce.

“The teams over the years certainly have had their ups and downs, but there was always a special camaraderie,” Allman said. “We crammed so many games into a short timeframe each season and played in all kinds of crazy weather that you can't help but develop close friendships and bonds.

“It will also be cool to celebrate the success of the more recent teams and also the fact that the team will be coming home to play on campus again as part of the Beyond the Bend project.”

Further details and an online registration form will be available soon. For information on the planning committee, contact Allman.
