Top Stories

nlimage.jpg@Geneva reaches you

You are one of nearly 7,000 Geneva College alumni who are receiving this e-newsletter. This issue of the @Geneva Newsletter is being sent to everyone in Geneva 's database who has an e-mail address. Geneva chose to broadcast this New Year's issue due to the findings of a recent alumni survey that showed that Geneva 's alumni prefer electronic correspondence over traditional mail. The college hopes that more of its 18,000-plus alumni will choose to subscribe to the newsletter in the future by providing the college with a current e-mail address.

@Geneva is a great way to stay connected with the college and your classmates. The newsletter features articles about the campus, students, faculty, alumni, news and events. We welcome your comments as we seek to better serve your information needs. Feel free to contact the college with personal updates, news or stories. Happy New Year!

volunteer.jpgTsunami response

Geneva is encouraging its alumni and other donors to who plan to donate money to the college to consider a gift to relief agencies assisting victims of the Asian tsunami instead. The home page of Geneva's Web site announced the college's request during the Christmas break and the first two weeks of January. Although the college diligently seeks financial support for its own work, the needs caused by this tragedy are immediate and most critical.

Serving on and off the court

Mike Ross, a freshman biblical studies major, understands pressure. Before joining the Golden Tornado basketball team as a walk-on this year, Ross spent four years in the U.S. Navy, and his service included deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq. That gives him a different perspective come game time. "When we get into tight situations on the court, I realize I've been through a lot more difficult things in my life," he said. "I understand life or death."

...PRAY FOR EACH OTHER..."

James 5:16
Classes resume Jan. 13 and there are some new students entering Geneva for the spring semester, both freshmen and transfers from other institutions. Pray that they will adjust quickly and will find their new academic home warm and fulfilling. Pray, too, for the degree completion and graduate programs that have new cohorts starting in the early months of 2005.

The institutional advancement office prays every week for alumni and friends of the college. We welcome your prayer requests.
