Seeing the bigger picture

As a high-school senior making the ever-important college selection, I wish I could have seen how ignorant I was. I chose Geneva over a billion other schools, not because I resonated with its mission or because I believed its academic programs could help me make a difference in the world, but because the residence hall floor I visited was decorated in posters from my favorite movie.
Thankfully, God’s vision was bigger than mine. But finding out what He had in mind for me was a long, slow process. During my first few years of college, I struggled with the idea of a liberal arts education. After declaring a business major, I thought my only priority should be the business field. My professors, on the other hand, thought it was important for me to study the arts in addition to management and that history classes would somehow give me a better understanding of marketing. Now, after many arguments with faculty and staff, I am emerging from Geneva prepared for the challenges of the business world and equipped with an appreciation for learning in all areas of life.
And now for the question every graduating senior will hear this spring: “Do you have a job lined up?” Actually, I don't, but I can honestly say that I'm not worried. I know I'm leaving college prepared to face the challenges ahead, and with Geneva’s professors and reputation behind me, I know that I'll find the job that’s right for me.
